Skip the Small Talk Dinner

"Do you wish you could have more of the kinds of conversations you have late at night where for some reason, you feel safe talking about the things you actually care about?"

That's what we asked on our Facebook event, and the answer was an overwhelming, "Yes." Five hundred eighty-seven people said they were interested and eighty-six said they were going. We were able to accommodate fifty of those folks for a picnic dinner at JFK Park in Cambridge, MA.

Ashley, our founder, wrote thought-provoking questions on pieces of paper and devised a structure for strangers to ask each other those questions. She used psychology research on co-experience, decision-making, and more to inform those questions as well as the format so that attendees would feel open to talking with strangers. People stayed hours after the event was supposed to end and they asked for more events, so she kept 'em coming.
